Ribbon cutting this afternoon at Barney Schwartz Park for a new playground area that has recently been completed.
The play space encourages high-energy activities with climbing areas, log tunnels, spinners, swings and slides designed for children.
Mayor Steve Martin and parks supervisors Julie Dahlen will speak.
There will also be milk and chocolate chip cookies. And there will be giveaways for all children in attendance.
Freda Berman is maintenance services superintendent. She oversaw the six-month project. She may demonstrate how the swings and slides function.
Barney Schwartz park is a 40-acre recreation area off Union road and 46 east that was dedicated in 2002. It’s named after former KPRL owner Barney Schwartz, who served as mayor of Paso Robles and played a key role in creating the park.
