Saturday morning, a driver in Cambria crashed into two parked cars, sending one plowing into the dining from of the French Corner Bakery. Five people besides the driver were taken to a hospital in San Luis with various injuries. Four people were treated at the scene with minor injuries. According to one firefighters, patrons at the restaurant suffered the greatest injuries.
40-year-old Jeremy Preston was arrested and charged with driving under the influence. He reportedly ran the stop sign at Burton Drive going 30-45 miles per hour. He plowed into a pickup, then slammed into a Mercedes parked in front of the bakery. The Mercedes crashed into cafe.
The building suffered major injuries and may have to be replaced. Neighboring Cambria Drug and Gift may also be condemned. The crash remains under investigation.
