Atascadero City Council to meet tonight at the Rotunda. The council will consider an ordinance to prohibit wind surfing on Atascadero lake, but still allow paddle boats. The council is also expected to exchange Valentine cards with each other and with city staff.

Highway Reopens

Highway 41 reopened between Atascadero and Morro Bay over the weekend. For the next two weeks, one-way traffic control will be in effect from 7:00 am until 5:00 pm. That’s so crews can continue work on 41. The highway closed January 6th because of rock and mudslides near Cerro Alto.

Coastal Commission

The California Coastal Commission names Jack Ainsworth the new executive director at a meeting Friday in Newport Beach. The commission fired his predecessor at a contentious meeting held in Morro Bay last year. Ainsworth has been interim director since March. The 59-year-old Ainsworth has been with the Coastal Commission for nearly three decades.
