A memorial to honor law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty attracts about 500 people to Mission Plaza in San Luis Obispo yesterday. Police officers from local municipalities, colleges, and state parks took part in the event. Also attending, survivors of families who personally experienced the loss of a fallen officer. While Atascadero Police Chief Jerred Healy read names of eleven officers killed over the past year, officers laid wreaths near the steps of Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa. Chief Healy says the increase in violence against police officers concerns many wearing uniforms in California. Among those to attend, the parents of Whittier Police Officer Keith Boyer, who was killed on duty in February. Boyer had 27-years experience in law enforcement.
