That teacher who accidentally fired a weapon inside a classroom in Seaside resigns.
Dennis Alexander was teaching firearm safety when he accidentally fired the gun. He was pointing the weapon at the ceiling to make sure it was not loaded when it discharged. No one sustained serious injuries, but some students were struck by falling ceiling debris.
Alexander submitted his resignation to the Monterey Peninsula unified school district on March 29th. Alexander remains on administrative leave. He also resigned as a reserve police officer with Sand City.
Alexander was a well-liked teacher at Seaside high school, but he’s now looking for work.
