Paso Robles police arrested a bank robbery suspect shortly after he demanded money at Chase bank late yesterday afternoon. A bank employee says the suspect handed her a note demanding money. He brandished what looked like a handgun. That was around 4:50 yesterday afternoon.
The suspect did not get any money from bank employees, and fled the bank.
Officers arrived in the area and started searching for the suspect. The California Highway Patrol helicopter assisted in the search.
Citizens reported seeing a subject matching the description of the bank robber near Albertson’s. Officer arrived and located the subject.
He was taken into custody without incident.
The bank employee identified the man as the suspect.
He’s identified as 46-year-old Andrew Gilbertson of Paso Robles. He was charged with one count of felony robbery and transported to the San Luis Obispo county jail.
The investigation into the incident is continuing.
