The county’s environmental health staff has released a guidance sheet for cleaning up and confronting damage done to property caused by flooding.
The department says that flood water can be accompanied by health and safety concerns, and several issues should be considered when dealing with recovery to protect oneself from illness, injury, and death.
The brochure emphasizes the assumption that flood waters contains sewage and should be avoided if at all possible. The guide also says that flooded buildings sould be entered with extreme caution, and only with assistance and guidance from structural and electrical experts prior to cleanup.
