The San Luis Obispo county Air Pollution Control District announced the 2024 Clean Air Rooms program.
The program will provide approximately 390 high-efficiency particulate air purifiers to income-eligible residents across the county. The APCD says that residents in the county have had increased exposure to wildfire smoke and particles that can be harmful to respiratory and cardiovascular systems. The best practice during a wildfire or dust blowing event is to stay indoors, and the air purifier devices can reduce particulate matter by more than 90%.
Residents who wish to qualify must complete an online application, which requires proof of residency in San Luis Obispo county, and income-eligibility documents.
Applicants will be awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis.
