The Atascadero city council held a public hearing last night for drafting its community development block grants in 2024.
The grants are funded by the department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), and are administered by the county of San Luis Obispo.
After the city of Atascadero and other cities in the county allocate their draft funds, the final amount will be allocated by HUD and approved in 2024. The estimated allocation for the city of Atascadero is $134,000. The city council allocated around $87,000 to the Viejo Camino sidewalk and ADA improvements, 7.5 thousand to ECHO, 12.5 thousand to youth activity scholarships, and nearly $27,000 to administration costs split between the county and city of Atascadero.
The draft allocation was approved unanimously by the council, and will be brought back in March of 2024.
