In response to the concerns by some residents over AT&T’s decision to discontinue its landlines, the California public utilities commission will be hosting virtual meetings on March 19th to discuss AT&T’s proposal to discontinue this service in California.
These online meetings will include presentations by AT&T followed by an opportunity for public comment. Two virtual meetings will be offered on March 19th. One at 2 pm, and another at 6 pm.
A release for these meetings, however, says that a “cost-effective solution” for replacing these services is transitioning to voice over internet protocol, which “utilizes the internet to make and receive phone calls.”
