Training continues for about 30 British soldiers at Camp Roberts this week.
They took a break Sunday to participate in Veterans Day events, on the 100th anniversary of the end of world war one. They’re learning about the dangerous animals in the north county, major Sam Hewitt tells KPRL he enjoyed the Veterans Day event at the Faces of Freedom in Atascadero. He says that his troops had to be briefed, on rattlesnakes and spiders, because they don’t have them in the United Kingdom. Fortunately, because of the cold weather, the rattles snakes are not too active this time of year.
The 22nd Battery of the 32nd Regiment of Her Majesties Royal Artillery will be in the north county another week, and then head back to the United Kingdom. They’re stationed permanently at an artillery base next to Stonehenge.
