San Luis Obispo county will soon begin the process of hiring a new county clerk recorder to replace Tommy Gong, who resigned to accept a position in Contra Costa county.
After a long discussion of alternatives, supervisor Debbie Arnold made the motion to begin the process.
Supervisor John Peschong suggested a more forgiving schedule.
The board approved the schedule and process.
County counsel Rita Neal said the county can follow the lead of two counties which also filled vacant positions. So, the recruitment process for a new county clerk recorder will begin.
Assistant county clerk recorder Helen Nolan will supervise the upcoming recall election while that process is underway.
