The Visalia physician who previously served as San Luis Obispo county’s medical examiner may keep his license for the time being, but he’s on three years probation.
Dr. Gary Walter of Visalia was arrested for driving under the influence after striking a parked car with his vehicle on his way to an autopsy in San Luis Obispo. That was two years ago. The 70-year-old physician operates the Microcorre Diagnostic Laboratory in Visalia. He was relieved of his responsibility as county medical examiner after the arrest and his diagnosis that a concert goer at a music festival at Lake San Antonio died of an LSD overdose. In September, the county hired a new full-time medical examiner.
