A fatal shooting occurred early this morning in Paso Robles. Early this morning, members of the regional swat team were involved in a fatal shooting while attempting to arrest an armed suspected who barricaded himself in an apartment.
The suspect was a 32-year-old man from Los Angeles. He was shot by swat team members when he failed to surrender to police. Instead, he reached for a handgun. The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident occurred early today at an apartment complex near the 2400 block of Branch Creek Circle. The suspect had discharged the fire arm from the balcony of an apartment. He also allegedly pointed the same gun at his girlfriend and threatened to shoot her. When police officers responded, he barricaded himself in an apartment and refused to cooperate with officers. That’s when police chief Ty Lewis requested the assistance of the swat team.
The police chief will conduct a news conference about the investigation at twelve noon Tuesday to discuss the investigation into the incident.
