Mission College Prep is the only San Luis Obispo county high school still alive in the CIF-central section play-offs in high school football.
The undefeated Royals beat Riverdale Christian 68-14 Friday night in San Luis Obispo. Now 11-0 for the season, the Royals advance to the title game against Fresno Christian, who beat Orcutt Academy 53-34. Mission Prep beat the Fresno Christian team earlier this season 45-6. The Royals will host Fresno Prep this Friday night.
Eleven players from the north county start for the Royals. Four of them start both ways, including Chase Jones who leads all players in the state with ten interceptions. Chase lives with his family near San Miguel.
San Luis Obispo lost Friday night to Fresno’s San Joaquin Memorial 57-23. Memorial led 57-3 at half-time.
Buchanan beat Arroyo Grande 48-17 Friday night in Clovis. So, San Luis Obispo and Arroyo Grande high schools are eliminated from the play-offs.
