Paso Robles high school locked down Friday morning after two students reported seeing what they believed was a long weapon under another student’s coat.
More than 20 police, sheriff’s deputies and fire fighters responded to the the high school. Police ascertained the suspected weapon was actually an umbrella. You may remember there was misty skies and drizzle Friday morning. Paso Robles new police chief Damian Nord says the police responded in force.
Questions remain how a student’s erroneous report of a concealed weapon became a shelter in place scenario with dozens of police personnel. Is that the administration’s correct response to student allegations? To immediately pull the fire alarm? Where was the resource officer which the city pays to patrol the high school campus? Will there be an inquiry into the motivation of the students who reported the concealed umbrella?
Regardless, everyone was safe and sound at Paso Robles high school.
