The district attorney’s office announced that jurors found 33-year-old Morro Bay resident Elderjairus Stomtomas Belen guilty of 11 felony counts of engaging in sex acts with a child under the age of 14.
The DA’s office says that Belen’s crimes ocurred between 2013 and 2018, where he engaged in a series of sex acts with two survivors when they were under the age of 10. The survivors testified at a trial against Belen.
District attorney Dan Dow says: “We are optimistic that this convition will encourage victims of sexual assault to report the conduct to law enforcement.”
Belen is scheduled to be sentenced on December 1st in department 9 of the San Luis Obispo county superior court, and faces a maximum term of 275 to life in prison for his conviction.
