High winds and rain forecast this week in the north county. Forecasters say we’ll get a series of storms on the central coast. Bringing rain off and on until Thursday.
The storm on Friday caused temporary closure of highway one in Big Sur. That roadway may be impacted as the storms batter the coast this week. John Lindsay says Big Sur may receive up to nine inches of rain. He says the storms will also generate gale force winds. Reservoirs in the county may benefit.
At last measurement, Lake Nacimiento was at 16% of capacity. That’s because Monterey county drained the lake over the summer. Lake San Antonio was at 13%. Santa Margarita lake, the Salinas reservoir is at 79% of capacity. Whale Rock reservoir above Cayucos is at 73%. Lopez Lake, east of Arroyo Grande is at 40%. Those levels should all increase this week, as the runoff flows into the reservoirs.
