Paso Robles Skills USA makes a good showing at the 52nd annual California Leadership and Skills conference over the weekend in Ontario. Ninety students made the trip.
Students competed in 34 contests. 11 brought home gold medals, so several will be advancing to the National Leadership and Skills conference in Louisville, Kentucky in late June.
Hannah Lowry, Zoe Murphy and Maizie Ross winning in career pathway showcase-health services. Audrey Hughes in early childhood education. Nathan Castro in electrical construction wiring. Mya Gonzalez in job interview. Kadan Gallant in plumbing, Eli Lewis in technical computer applications, Mason Brown in telecommunications cabling (his 4th consecutive gold medal), Zac Alves in welding, Luke Bower, Ethan Breeze and Triston Erickson in welding fabrication.
Most of those who won gold medals will advance to the national competition June 24th-28th in Louisville. The students pay for at least part of their travel expense. If you’d like to help you’re encouraged to contact Randy Canaday at Paso Robles high school.
