Rain and wind today in the north county.
PG and E meteorologist says the heavy stuff falls today. He says we may get 2-4 inches of rain today. Higher elevations like York Mountain or Rocky Butte may receive six inches of rain today. Winds up to 30-35 miles per hour. This is the brunt of the storm arriving today with heavy rain, wind and a big swell at the coast. Waves expected to reach 10-18 feet through tomorrow, with a secondary swell between 20-24 feet from late this morning through tomorrow morning.
Cal Trans has closed highway one in Big Sur in two locations. Jim Shivers says the highway will likely reopen when the storm passes tomorrow. Today, highway one is closed at Mud Creek and Paul’s Slide. Gates are locked on either side, but you can still reach highway one via Nacimiento-Ferguson road over the coastal mountains from 101.
So batten down the hatches. A lot of rain and wind today here in the north county.
