Call it Campaign 22. The candidates stumping for the primary.
Supervisor Bruce Gibson says it’s awkward for him because he’s the incumbent, but his second district has dramatically changed. That district now includes Atascadero and parts of San Miguel, and most of the land area between the coast and the north county.
One might perceive it as an opportunity for the north county to elect another representative like Debbie Arnold, but right now, Bruce is running against several candidates battling one another for the nomination.
Geoff Auslen is backed by “A Better Atascadero.”
Dr. Bruce Jones is backed by the Republican Party.
And John Whitworth is running his own campaign. While they campaign against each other, Gibson is making inroads.
So, Gibson believes he has a good chance of winning a north county seat, although he has voted against north county supervisors Peschong and Arnold on issues like water.
More on that tomorrow here on KPRL.
