Although the price of turkeys is expected to drop this year, some north county residents and visitors from the valley are again watching the movement of wild turkeys off highway 46 west, near Dover Creek road and York Mountain road.
A group of about 12 turkeys roaming around on both sides of the highway. They look scrawny, and according to locals who have tried eating them, they taste worse than they look. As one hunter says, “take my advice, shooting one and preparing it for dinner is not worth the trouble. You’ll regret it when you take your first bite.”
