After cancellation of the California mid-state fair, the junior livestock show and auction was conducted virtually.
The auction raised more than one million dollars for local FFA and 4-H members. Buyers used an online platform to check out the animals and to place their bets.
Regardless, because of the government imposed shut down, fewer animals were shown and auctioned off this year. Last year, 900 animals were entered. This year, it was 530.
Hailey Rose Switzer says some 4-H and FFA members opted not to raise animals this year.
