The Walmart property off Del Rio road in Atascadero is finally put up for sale.
Last February, Walmart announced it was abandoning plans to build a 120 thousand square foot store at the site. The plans to build at the intersection of Del Rio road and El Camino Real were fought by residents and local labor unions. The new store was expected to generate nearly $600 thousand dollars per year in sales tax revenue for the city. Now, the property is up for sale.
The city of Atascadero has hired a consultant to study the traffic situation at the intersection. Then the city is likely to amend the Del Rio specific plan.
