The academy of motion pictures arts and sciences says that Will Smith was asked to leave Sunday’s oscars after hitting Chris Rock, but refused. Many have questioned why Smith was allowed to remain seated in the front row after the assault.
In a statement to the associated press, academy officials said, “Things unfolded in a way we could not have anticipated. While we would like to clarify that Mr. Smith was asked to leave the ceremony and refused, we also recognize we could have handled the situation differently.”
The academy’s board of governors met yesterday to initiate disciplinary proceedings against Smith for violations against the group’s standards of conduct.
Some are saying the academy awards this year looked more like an episode of the Jerry Springer Show.
Incidentally, this afternoon on Jerry Springer, Andrew and Becca discuss having an open marriage. That’s at 1:00 this afternoon on KSBY.
