The Boy Scouts of America filing for bankruptcy under Chapter 11 in hopes of surviving a barrage of lawsuits over sexual abuse which may have occurred years ago.
The bankruptcy will allow the organization to continue to operate while they deal with the lawsuits.
As many as 5,000 alleged victims of sexual abuse may step forward after state laws change regarding compensation for those victims. The Boy Scouts saying the compensation could reach one billion dollars.
