CC_NR_26_20_Feedback for Potential Oil and Gas Leases in California [Approved] 1
The California Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has opened an additional public comment period to receive input on plans for potential oil and gas leases in California.
The plan includes 44 oil and gas parcels, totaling approximately 36,000 acres in Kern, Kings, San Luis Obispo, and Fresno counties in a December 2026 lease sale. The public comment period ends September 20th.
BLM completed scoping of these parcels in July, and is seeking public comment on the parcels and related environmental analysis. Input will be used to help complete a review of each parcel. Leasing is the first step in the process to develop federal oil and gas resources.
Interested commentors can find more information at the Bureau of Land Management’s website, along with maps of the affected parcels.
