The county district attorney’s office announced they are actively investigating two sets of election-related matters.
The first is a list of 63 suspected non-citizens registered to vote in the county, provided by federal authorities. The second is referrals from the county clerk-recorder’s office about possible unlawful voting in the current election. The DA’s office says first assistant US attorney for the central district of California sent a letter to Elaina Cano on October 22nd, which included a list of 63 people registered to vote in the county that federal officials identified as likely non-citizens, asking their ballots be set aside and not processed. The DA’s office is investigating the 63 federally identified suspect registrations. The DA’s office says that being named on a list is not proof of a crime.
Every person is presumed innocent, and any decision to file criminal charges will be based on gathered evidence.
