Highway 41 was closed in both directions yesterday morning due to a fire near the Kings county and San Luis Obispo county lines.
A big rig carrying hay that was on fire pulled over to the roadside at about 9:30 yesterday morning; the fire from the hay spread to nearby vegetation, prompting a response from Kings county fire at about 10 am. CHP posted on X that the fire would close the highway in both directions, between the 46 at the Cholame Y, and highway 33.
The highway was closed for about an hour, as crews worked to extinguish the blaze.
