San Luis Obispo police arrested an arson suspect yesterday near the San Luis Obispo airport.
Firefighters and police responded to a van fire at about 2 pm yesterday at Kendall road, finding an unoccupied van fully engulfed in flames. Witnesses at the scene said they saw a man taking off after the fire started, walking to a nearby gas station.
The man, Mario Maya, was contacted at the station, and arrested on suspicion of felony arson, and carrying a concealed dirk or dagger.
