The Paso Robles city council discussed approving a traffic signal master plan in last night’s council meeting. This plan is the first comprehensive road-map for improving safety, mobility, and traffic operations from traffic signals.
The plan identifies both short and long-term improvements for signals throughout the city. Short-term improvements include updating signal timing sheets, coordinating key corridors, pedestrian safety, and video detection. Long-term improvements include expanded fiber and wireless communications, a traffic management center, and upgraded emergency vehicle pre-emption.
Across 10 years, the plan identifies about $16.5 million in improvements. Council approved the plan last night unanimously, but this does not commit any funds to any projects.
Staff will develop plan phases and secure grants.
