The big number for Covid-19 is the world’s number of deaths. One million people. Which sounds like a lot unless you compare it to the Spanish flu epidemic of 1919. During that pandemic between 40-50 million people died. Some estimate the number of deaths may have reached one hundred million. One third of the world’s population was infected with Spanish flu. And that was with a much smaller world population.
Today, the world’s population is 7.8 billion. In 1918 the world population was only 1.8 billion.
