San Luis Obispo county supervisor Dawn Ortiz-Legg has released a statement on recent ICE activity in the county.
Ortiz-Legg said “the parent of a local middle school student was detained by ICE agents” on October 8th. Currently, there is no information regarding the specific circumstances or reasons for the individual’s detention, according to the release. “This lack of transparency creates unnecessary fear and uncertainty for all our community, who may be left wondering whether they or their loved ones could face similar actions.”
The statement then points to community support and protections for immigrant communities, saying “our community should not have to face uncertainty and fear alone.”
