The Biden administration announced earlier this week that it has approved 1.1 billion dollars in conditional funding to the Diablo Canyon nuclear power plant.
This is to assist Diablo Canyon’s production of electricity through 2030, and as a part of president Biden’s agenda to “decarbonize” the power grid by 2035.
The full terms of the aid package to PG&E are not released by the energy department, though PG&E’s CEO Patti Poppe said that they are ordering more uranium fuel, and dry casks for storing nuclear waste.
