Congressman Salud Carbajal, alongside congresswoman Val Hoyle, introduced the Decent, Affordable, Safe Housing For All Act in the house of representatives.
The DASH Act is led by senator Ron Wyden in the senate. The act aims to address the lack of affordable quality housing, and combat the rise of children and families experiencing homelessness, with policies such as down payment tax credits for first-time homebuyers, improved and expanded housing tax credits, and incentivizing construction of more affordable housing.
Representative carbajal said: “I hear from my central coast constituents every single day about their concerns with the rising costs of housing and the lack of affordable options for them to live and raise a family.”
The bill is projected to help build an estimated three million additional homes in the US over the next decade.
