The Mission Prep Royals boys basketball team beat Armenian General Benevolent Union high school 64-60 in overtime last night in Canoga Park. The Royals will play Mission Bay high school in San Diego on Thursday evening.
Last night in Pasadena, the Blair Vikings beat Arroyo Grande 76-62. That eliminates the Eagles from the state championships.
So, Mission Prep, coached by Terrence Harris, is the only boys basketball team from San Luis Obispo county still alive in the state tournament.
St. Joseph of Santa Maria, coached by Tom Mott, is the other central coast team still playing. They had a bye last night. They’ll play Saturday night against Dougherty Valley of San Ramon. That game will be played in the East Bay. Dougherty valley is 27-3 for the season. The St. Joseph Knights are 26-6.
