San Luis Obispo residents packed its city council chambers earlier this week, speaking out against the current parking rates for the city’s downtown area.
In this meeting, the city of San Luis Obispo voted to reinstate the free first hour for its downtown parking structures, and free Sunday parking. The council also instructed city staff to conduct a study that would look into the optimal rates for the city’s parking program now that the costs for one of its approved parking structures was lower than anticipated.
The parking rate changes will go into effect by Thanksgiving, and the study is anticipated to be finished by mid-April.
