Multiple speakers took to the county board of supervisors yesterday to raise their concerns regarding recent immigration enforcement efforts in San Luis Obispo county.
“Our community has been subjected to an unprecedented assault. A small army of unlawfully masked agents, falsely identifying themselves as police operating unmarked vehicles with license plates removed have seized brown people off our streets… these actions constitute unmistakable racial profiling.”
About seven speakers in total voiced their concerns about ICE agents in San Luis Obispo county, citing anecdotal stories of immigration enforcement efforts in county jails and neighborhoods. Attendees applauded most of these speakers, prompting chairperson Paulding to remind attendees that they cannot clap for public comment to maintain order.
The board encouraged citizens concerned about immigration enforcement efforts to attend the public hearing regarding the truth act in the next board of supervisors meeting January 27th.
