Atascadero fire responded to a residential structure fire on Sunday at about 4:46 pm.
The incident was located at 7580 Castano avenue. Units found a single-family residence fully involved in a heavy fire, spreading to vegetation behind the home. Firefighters successfully stopped the flames from reaching adjacent homes, and it was about 30 minutes until the blaze was deemed under control. No injuries were reported.
The cause is under investigation, although Atascadero fire says it originated from the front porch. The fire has displaced the Byrd family; Mariah Byrd, her daughters, and her 75-year-old father Leonard. A GoFundMe has been launched for the family.
