District attorney Dan Dow announced earlier this week that a jury has found 38-year-old Gary Lee Roberts II guilty of first-degree residential burglary, and attempted first-degree residential burglary, both felonies.
The DA’s office says Roberts targeted the same Atascadero home on October 7th and 9th. The DA’s office says the victim first saw Roberts on October 6, 2025, where he knocked on her front door and asked for someone named “Jeff.” The victim told him through a security camera that no one by that name lived there. Roberts returned again the next morning, attempting to break in while the victim was at work. The victim spoke through the camera and told him he was being recorded. Roberts returned again on October 9th, and the victim called law enforcement officers. Roberts attempted to exit her home carrying stolen property, and she confronted him, pushing him into the bushes, and punching him in the face just as officers were arriving.
