A Cal Poly graduate is scheduled to pilot a Space X capsule to the international space station this weekend. The rocket will blast off from Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida. It’s set to be launched at 4:49 Saturday afternoon, weather permitting. The flight was originally scheduled for October 31st.
Victor Glover graduated from Cal Poly with a general engineering degree in 1999. Glover attended Cal Poly on a wrestling scholarship. He joined the US Navy after graduating Cal Poly.
He earned three Master’s Degree in in the Navy at Air University and the naval postgraduate school. Flight test engineering, systems engineering and a third in military operational art and science.
Glover, who is African-American, is married to Dionna Odom Glover of Berkeley. They have four children. His oldest is set to graduate from high school in the spring of next year. He’s hoping he’ll be back from outer space in time to attend his daughter’s high school graduation. Otherwise, he’ll watch it from outer space.
