The Cal Poly baseball team has announced the signings of six recruits to the national letter of intent.
The announcement was made yesterday by Mustang baseball coach Larry Lee and director of athletics Don Oberhelman. The signing period opened yesterday, and runs through August 1st.
Among the six recruits, Jakob Wright of Paso Robles high school. Wright hit .421 in six games under head coach Jonathon Thornhill last season. Then, the season was cut short by the coronavirus panic. Wright is an outfielder and a left-handed pitcher. In three varsity season, he’s compiled a 5-3 record with a 2.89 era and 72 strikeouts over 46 innings.
Coach Larry Lee says, “The 2021 recruiting class focuses on filling positions that will be vacated due to graduation,. We are hoping a few of these players will compete for starting positions as freshmen.”
Jakob Wright has one more season with the Bearcats, if the governor allows it.
