District attorney Dan Dow announced that the former San Luis Obispo county deputy probation officer has been sentenced to probation for embezzling over $169,000.
Fallyn Sierra Rollins, while serving as the treasurer of the San Luis Obispo county probation peace officers’ association in 2023 and 2024, repeatedly embezzled funds from the association. Because of her unique role and control over the checking account, debit card, and financial records of the association, her theft went undetected for some time.
Rollins pleaded no contest to all nine charges of felony grand theft. Her sentence will be 2 years felony probation and 270 days in county jail. If she violates the terms of her probation, she faces a maximum of 8 years, 4 months in state prison.
District attorney Dan Dow said “we are disappointed in this relatively light sentence, but we respect the judge’s independence and authority to do so. The fact that Ms. Rollins has already fully paid the restitution was clearly a factor that weighed in her favor.”
