Caltrans announced there will be a full overnight closure of highway 41, starting Thursday night at 8 pm.
The closure will last until Friday, March 20th at 8 am. The affected area will be the 41, east of the Cholame Y, to Reef Station at the intersection of highway 33. Caltrans says crews will be finalizing repairs to the highway from a major rock-slide in December.
Crews will move a 400-feet concrete barrier and rock fence to the shoulder to serve as a barrier to any future rockfall. Caltrans will also reinstall permanent striping, taking away temporary lane striping and traffic control devices.
Travelers are advised to use highway 46 as a detour, using highway 33 to return to the 41 at Reef Station. Caltrans advises travelers to allow for 30 extra minutes of travel time.
