Governor Gavin Newsom says he’s getting close to a deal with the teachers union to reopen elementary schools. He says he hopes to announce a final plan later this week.
He met with lawmakers Monday night.
The sticking point has been vaccines and whether teachers will need to be vaccinated before returning to the classroom.
Teachers unions argue schools should not require teachers to return unless they’ve been offered the vaccine.
