A 15-year-old Morro Bay boy was killed, and three others were injured, on highway 1 near Harmony on Friday night.
At about 11:16 pm, an 18-year-old Cambria man was driving a 2010 Chevrolet camaro when the vehicle struck a guardrail and an asphalt curb. The camaro traveled down an embankment, struck a large rock, and overturned. The two passengers in the back seat, the 15-year-old Morro Bay teen, and a 17-year-old Cambria girl, were not wearing seat belts and were ejected from the camaro. The Morro Bay teen died at the scene, and the 17-year-old suffered major injuries. The driver suffered minor injuries, and a third passenger, a 19-year-old Paso Robles woman, suffered moderate injuries. CHP says they do not suspect the driver was impaired by drugs or alcohol.
Highway 1 in both directions was closed following the crash, reopened later at 4 am on Saturday morning. CHP is continuing to investigate the crash.
