The county homeless services division released an official statement of the closure for the Oklahoma parking site.
Initially opened in August 2021, the site was set to close earlier this year, but was delayed after the San Luis Obispo county homeless union filed a restraining order against the county.
However, the U.S. District court for the central district of California eventually ruled in favor of the county on April 24th, and a settlement was agreed upon by the plaintiffs and the county. The ten individuals at the site were allowed to stay until 5 pm on May 6th, and the county would pay the union $60 thousand to fund temporary lodging and relocation assistance for the ten remaining individuals.
The county says that all ten voluntarily left the site by the end of the day on Monday, May 6th, and the county is now working on dismantling the parking site.
