Candidates for supervisor are campaigning for election in three districts in San Luis Obispo county. Former Exxon geologist Bruce Gibson is running for reelection in the 2nd district. That district sweeps along the coast from San Luis Obispo to San Simeon.
Lynn Compton is running for reelection in the fourth district, which is the southern-most section of the county. Progressive Jimmy Paulding is again challenging Compton.
And in the third district, a special election for a supervisor to replace supervisor Adam Hill, who died in office of a drug overdose. Stacy Korsgaden barely lost the election to Hill during the most recent election.
After Hill died in office last summer, Stacy Korsgaden asked to be appointed to replace him. Dawn Ortiz Legg was appointed to the planning commission by the late supervisor Adam Hill. Then after Hill died of a drug overdose, governor Gavin Newsom appointed her to be supervisor. Now Korsgaden is running against Legg.
The election is coming up in June, but both Lynn Compton and Stacy Korsgaden are conducting fundraisers in the north county to offset the out of county money coming in to support the candidacy of progressives in those races.
