Another election which has garnered a great deal of campaign funding, the Paso Robles school board. The local teachers union has donated more than $8,000 to the campaigns of two candidates. Jim Cogan and Adelita Hiteshew.
Some on the board find it a conflict of interest for the teachers union to donate large sums of money to get trustees elected who will be voting on the teachers pay and benefits.
Cogan has also been criticized for misrepresenting his career. On the campaign literature he says he’s involved in agriculture, but he’s actually working with Kinfolk, which operates cannabis dispensaries in Grover Beach and Morro Bay. The company has also been awarded a 12-month permit to sell recreational marijuana to Paso Robles residents by delivery.
Cogan is the cannabis candidate for the school board. Trustee Dorian Baker is recommending voters cast their ballots for three other candidates, who are not involved with cannabis.
Darcia Stebbins explains how she’s going to vote tomorrow. She says she’ll go into her precinct with her vote-by-mail ballot and ask for an in precinct ballot. Not a provisional ballot. And in precinct ballot. Then she’ll fill that in and turn it in because that will be counted on election night.
She says she’s a not an election denier. She’s a Certified Public Accountant.
Again, the general election is tomorrow. You’re encouraged to vote in this election.
