An ancient wooden sarcophagus was returned to Egypt by the Houston Museum of Natural Sciences.
The repatriation is part of the Egyptian government efforts to stop the trafficking of its stolen antiquities. In 2021, they recovered more than 5,000 stolen artifacts.
The sarcophagus dates back to the late dynastic period that spanned from 664 BC until Alexander The Great’s campaign in 332 BC.
